PROPERTY ROOM CLERK
SALARY: $14.52 -

Maintain accurate chain of custody of all evidence and property. Check in and check out all
property to officers and detectives. Property Room Clerk is responsible for returning property to
rightful owner and/or disposing of property by auction, destruction or general fund.
Job requires court room appearance and testimony.

Responsible for keeping area clean and orderly.
Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
Skills and Knowledge
Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person-toperson
and small group situations with customers, clients, general public and other
employees of the organization.
Regular contacts with patrons where the contacts are initiated by the employee. Involves
both furnishing and obtaining information. Contacts of considerable importance and of
such nature, that failure to exercise proper judgment may result in important tangible or
intangible losses to the organization.
Knowledge of basic office procedures, methods and computer equipment
Knowledge of general law enforcement codes, practice and methods
Knowledge of basic principles and procedures of record keeping.
Ability to perform routine clerical duties, type accurately at a speed necessary for
successful job performance
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
Ability to handle stressful situations
Ability to sit for long periods of time
Ability to maintain confidentiality and to follow all policy and procedures of the Department
and the City.
Education and Experience:
State Certified High School diploma or GED
Two years of general clerical experience
