The City of Ardmore will construct a new storm sewer along Monroe Avenue from B Street NW to the vicinity of D Street. The work will commence on or shortly after January 15, 2020 and continue for at least the next 60 days.
The project will eliminate a traffic safety hazard along Monroe and improve drainage in the area. The work will enable the City to eventually improve Monroe by building new curbs and gutters and pavement. This project is one of several storm sewer projects that are planned throughout the City over the next year.
The storm sewer will be built in the existing drainage ditch along the north side of Monroe. This involves excavation and shaping of the existing ditch, construction of junction boxes, installation of concrete pipe, and reconstruction of driveways and Holt Street intersection.
Excavation equipment and heavy trucks will be moving to and within the work area so residents are urged to exercise caution while driving or walking in the area. Sections of Monroe Avenue will be closed as the repairs proceed. This will require through traffic to be rerouted to 13th Avenue. Residents along and to the north of Monroe will be inconvenienced but crews working on the project will adjust the work sequence to accommodate access to homes.
